The SmartScan VR800 revolutionizes our idea of structured-light scanning. Due to its patented dual stereo camera system and a projector unit with optical zoom, frequent lens changes and calibrations are now a thing of the past.
The required field of view and resolution can instantly be selected in PolyWorks software, requiring no hardware adjustments. These settings can also be adjusted during scanning, allowing users to first capture the full object and then zoom in with higher resolution for a more detailed imaging.

Structured-light 3D scanner?
A 3D surface scanner projects various striped patterns onto the object's surface using a projector, creating a contrast-rich image that is processed by two cameras. Surface points are determined through triangulation, capturing all visible points from a given angle at once. By repeating this process from multiple angles, a complete 3D point cloud of the object is generated—often containing millions of points within seconds. This data can be used for measurements, analyses, colour mapping inspections, or even reverse engineering.

Photogrammetry?
The process involves placing reference points on the object and calibrated length markers in the surrounding area. A special camera captures images from multiple angles, enabling the calculation of spatial positions of surface points. The resulting digital point cloud can be used for measurements and analysis. This method is especially effective for inspecting large-scale components with high precision.
